Eastleigh’s Crown FC banks on young talent in Sub-County League return
Crown FC is preparing for its Sub-County League debut with a revamped U20 team, new training strategies, and fresh kits from the Safaricom Foundation - all part of a bigger mission to keep Eastleigh youth off the streets and in the game.
Crown FC will compete in the upcoming Starehe Sub-County League with a revamped approach focused on youth development, following their withdrawal from the Nairobi County League.
The Eastleigh-based team, led by coach Abdulahi Ibrahim, is set to field an under-20 squad in the new campaign. Ibrahim confirmed that the team is rebuilding with a younger squad and has set a top-three finish as a realistic target.
“These are our U20 players, and they will begin their campaign next week in the Starehe Sub-County League,” said Ibrahim. “Every coach wants to be on top of the league. My target is at least a top-three finish.”

As part of their preparations, the team held a training session on April 8 at Karura Forest grounds - an initiative by the coach to introduce the players to new training environments and better facilities.
“Our home ground is good, but this ground is more developed. It’s good to train in different places and experience new things,” said team captain Mohamed Abdirahman. “Training here has given us a boost.”
The captain encouraged other young players in the area to take up football seriously. “If you see a team doing well, it motivates you to want to join them. So I encourage others to find teams near them and focus on building their talent.”
Crown FC’s efforts have been supported by the Safaricom Foundation, which recently provided the team with new kits and training equipment. Coach Ibrahim said the support has improved morale and helped with the team’s consistency during sessions.
“My goal as captain is to help the team win and support the coach in achieving our objectives,” added Abdirahman.
The team is expected to kick off its Sub-County League campaign next week.
